The new generation LED-based COBRA utilizes techniques that increase brightness by a factor of 2 to compete with halogen and metal halide-based fiberoptic illuminators. The chip-on-board approach to LED module fabrication yields an essentially unbroken line of semiconductor light source for high uniformity. Combined higher intensity and uniformity produces clear linescan images. The device targets machine vision applications where brightness, uniformity, and stability are essential.
