MARCH 17, 2009 -- The organizers for VISION 2009 (Stuttgart, Germany; www.vision-messe.de) have announced registration numbers in line with the target figure. "Registration has been running as normal so far. If this trend continues, we will again have around 290 exhibitors just like in 2008," says Florian Niethammer, VISION project manager. "We cannot naturally predict what else will happen up until November, but the situation looks very good for VISION 2009 at present."

The focal points of the 22nd of the International Trade Fair for Machine Vision and Identification Technologies will not only be machine-vision components such as cameras, sensors, frame grabbers, and LEDs but also complete systems geared toward user-based solutions. Technologies will include 3-D machine-vision systems for the main customer groups (i.e., the mechanical engineering, car manufacturing, and electrical engineering/electronics industries), as well as applications from a large number of non-industrial sectors which have still not discovered machine vision. Whether used in agriculture as part of efficient fertilizer spreading systems, in medicine, or in the expanding segment of safety technology, machine vision has only captured a fraction of its possible application areas.

In addition to the trade fair, the three-day series of talks entitled Industrial VISION Days will provide background information on machine vision innovations and applications in the industrial and non-industrial sectors. The series is being organized by the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) Machine Vision Group, the professional and promotional supporter of VISION.

VISION has become more international over the last few years. In 2008, 292 exhibitors from 28 countries came to the event. The proportion of foreign exhibitors was 45%. Out of the approximately 6200 visitors, around 28% came from abroad.
