Laser Crystals

Laser Crystals Highlighted ContentVLOC starts with qualified raw materials and creates both nonlinear and gain materials to service the laser industry. Our Nd:YAG facility is in a dedicated building with features designed specially for this purpose, including in-depth electrical power backup, facility and furnace temperature control, and characterization laboratory. This facility, already producing the finest Nd:YAG available, has adequate room for years of expansion.

Our Fluorides growth department produces a variety of gain materials covering the UV to the mid-IR, including Cr:LiSAF, Ce:LiSAF, Cr:LiSGaF and Nd:YLF. A section of our new facility has been specially designed and dedicated to fluoride growth, characterization and fabrication.

Gain Crystals

VLOC grows a variety of laser gain crystals, including Nd:YAG, Nd:YLF and Ruby. We fabricate laser gain products to customer specifications. A repolishing service for damaged laser rods is also available.

Non-Linear Materials

We process many common non-linear materials, such as KTP, KNbO3, LBO and LiNbO3, for frequency conversion, frequency mixing and optical parametric oscillator applications.

Crystal Fabrication

Laser Crystals Highlighted Content Crystal FabricationDelicate and valuable crystals can be oriented and cut within a few arc minutes' accuracy using several X-ray diffraction units, Nikon autocollimators, custom polarimeters, and diamond wire saws in conjunction with proprietary tooling. Small-aperture interferometers at 0.6328, 0.860, and 1.064 micron wavelengths verify final optical transmission.

Monolithic Crystal Assemblies (MCA)

Laser Crystals Highlighted Content MCASkills in optical contacting and multi-wavelength coatings, combined with our crystal growth and electro-optic design abilities, are evident in these assemblies. We contact-bond various crystals in precise orientations within a single tiny unit to produce MCA's that enable generation of diode-pumped cw and pulsed laser light throughout the ultraviolet, visible and infrared spectrum.
